Mysterious Motorola MT820 poses for a long, leisurely spy shoot

Two in one week — Two leaked Chinese Motorola phones with Android and transparent MOTOMING-like flip covers, that is. However, this one's a little more exciting. Dubbed the Moto MT820, this sleek handset's got a full leaked gallery of nice, clear images courtesy Chinese forum HiAPK, and word has it this might be the first device to make use of the dual-screen 3D patent Motorola applied for early this month. Actual facts are a little more scarce, though spy shots show a front-facing cam……

Eken's $100 Android MID reviewed: you get what you pay for

When we first spotted the Eken M001 MID, we immediately liked its honest nature. The M001 didn't claim to be an iPad killer, or boast ridiculous specs and decades of battery life; it was simply cheap, and proud of it. Now, Shanzai.com has discovered the tablet is exactly what we expected. Running Android 1.6 with a VIA WM8505 processor, the device is pokey with terrible battery life, and the 7-inch, 800 x 480 resistive screen has noticeable lag. Still, the M001's moderately capable; thi……

Palm's web-based Ares SDK goes gold

Four solid months after going into open beta, Palm's entirely web-based SDK for webOS — the so-called Ares SDK — has reached version 1.0, bringing “lots and lots” of new features along for the ride. Biggies include UI-less components that add functionality to your application, in-line help, undo and copy / paste functionality (for the SDK, that is), and a plug-and-play multitouch-enabled Google Maps widget that you can drop into your own screens. Even if you don't own a Pre and have n……

Microsoft shopping around 'low-cost version' of Windows Phone 7 for emerging markets

Microsoft has apparently revealed at a developer event in India that it intends to produce a “low-cost version” of Windows Phone 7 primarily targeting emerging markets that would come after the initial volley of higher-end devices schedule to launch at the tail end of this year. Little else is known at this point, but Sudeep Bharati — director of India's Visual Studio group — has mentioned that it will have a smaller screen, suggesting that this might be one and the same as the HVGA spec ……

myTouch Slide found in the wild, looking good in red

Yeah, we saw the myTouch Slide back in January, but it certainly seems to have come a long way in the past few months. For starters, the phone is on now, showing off a slightly custom Android UI and that 480 x 320 screen. The handset also looks to have gotten a fancy red (or is that form of pink?) paint job, and doesn't look half bad for it. Our guess is we'll be seeing this in a number of colors, just like the myTouch 3G, but that's just speculation. There aren't any other deta……

Motorola software update makes 3D automatic, except for the “buying a new TV” part

It's not like a couple of button presses on a remote was the big gap between us and the perfect 3D experience but when most people can't even figure out if they're actually watching HDTV, some automated assistance can't hurt. To that end Motorola has developed an update for its latest set-top boxes that allow them to automatically detect and process 3D signals so those properly equipped can watch without having to lift a finger, and even adjusts the on screen graphics to……

EyeTV iPhone app features 3G streaming, Jessica Fletcher fans go nuts

If the thought of watching Murder, She Wrote on a 3.5-inch screen has you, like, totally psyched, you'll be pleased to know that Elgato has just announced a genuine iPhone / iPod touch app that allows you to view EyeTV content streamed from your home computer via 3G or WiFi (similar to the Live3G web app the company debuted late last year). In addition — this is where things start to get interesting — the thing will let you browse the Program Guide and manage your recording schedules, laun……
